Use WHM Backup Configuration UI to specify which backup destinations should receive system file backups

Currently, in the new backup system introduced with 11.38, to enable System Files backups to be uploaded to Additional Destinations, you are required to manually edit the destination configuration file according to the following instructions:

Please add the ability to configure which Additional Destinations should receive the System Files backups via the WHM 'Backup Configuration' interface.

To be honest, surprised it's not done as standard! If you've elected to backup system files, when would you ever not want to send these to your remote destination too?

I find it worrisome that nowhere on the backup section at WHM does it states that the additional destinations won't receive the system file backups, that can be a bit misleading.
One would assume that the offsite backups should have everything in case of a full system failure.
Ideally this should be implemented but even having a notification on the backup section at WHM stating that some manual tweaks are needed to get everything saved on the additional destinations would be an improvement.

Agreed. This is an odd omission from the current backup system. If the system has the option to backups system files when backing up user accounts... why wouldn't you want those to follow the same remote transfer rules as account backups! I'll vote for this!

Just opened a ticket with cPanel before we found this, even the support rep assumed this was the default. I doesn't make sense to give the option to not retain copies of backup files after being uploaded to the additional destinations, only to leave the system files behind even if we've opted to backup those too.

Hi, I thought it was a bug too at first. It's very strange that there was no mention of this in the backup configuration screen as a remark.
Please add this. It can't be that difficult for the developers of WHM/cPanel.

I wanted to clarify that adding this option to the UI is not about difficulty, it could have easily been done in the beginning, I believe the original intent of not adding it to the UI was about security.
System Files backups contain very sensitive data such as the password database and uploading these files over an unencrypted transport to a third-party backup server potentially exposes this data to attackers. Not providing this option in the UI forces you to make a very conscious decision about where these sensitive files are being uploaded. If this option is added to the UI, I imagine, and hope, that it will come with a dire warning about the implications of where and how you choose to upload these files.
