I agree, appearently it's being forgotten or left out. When I login to phpMyAdmin I see version: 4.0.10.7 while the latest stable version is: 4.4.8

I updated the request a bit to remove version restrictions :)

The one that is distributed has security flaws.

cPanel had a later version of phpmyadmin, but they downgraded when they discovered that to maintain compatibility with MySQL 5.1 they need to run the current version installed. What would have made more sense to me would have been to branch the phpmyadmin installs and install the older version for servers running 5.1 and the up-to-date version for 5.5+.

Newest version is now 4.5.1.

Any update when this will be released as customers are complaining?

phpMyAdmin 4.0.10Released 2013-12-04

What the hell man ? 2013 version ?

photo
1

I do not see reasone to force this, and in worst case forcing updates every time to latest version can just cause problems. It is better to wait little time in case any bugs and then update ... Also what would you get from these small updates, just to see "you are on latest version"?

photo
1

Performance is the reason I am pushing.

photo
2

4.5.4 is out and we are still on 2013 version!

photo
2

Please Cpanel consider on working on this soon.

photo

Planned fo 8 months. Until when ? 2017 ?

photo

This is on the roadmap for sometime later this year! Too, the plan includes making it easier to make PHPMyAdmin easier to updated in the future, so we can try to avoid this kind of problem in the future. Thanks so much for your continued feedback here!

The actual phpMyadmin in cPanel is 4.0.10.7, a verison from 2013.

https://www.phpmyadmin.net/news/12/

As you can see from the above link, there are 12 pages with improvements and corrections that have been implemented since that time until today.

Several of them are necessary especially for those using MariaDB...

In this link you can see the security updates:

https://www.phpmyadmin.net/security/

so....

Cpanel please, hurry up with this implementation. ;)

photo

Hi there, do we have an ETA on this being implemented? Later this year is ok, but I always like to plan changes ahead of time and having an estimate would be much more helpful.

It would also stop everyone here asking over and over again.

Thanks

photo

It will be implemented in version 58, which is being developed at the moment. It will be released to GA this year. Probably by the end of the summer.

Hi all! @cool_recep isn't quite right. We are aiming for v58, but it's not sure yet if it will land there. We're hitting Feature Freeze for what's going in version 58 on June 9th, and I'll be able to tell you if we've made it or not. I'll let everyone know on June 10th whether we made it!

photo
1

Now that June 10 is behind us, can we please get an update?

photo
1

Did you make it ? Let me guess. No...

BTW 4.6.2 is out...

photo
2

The upgrade did make it! It's not yet in an EDGE build, but as soon as it is I'll let everyone know!

photo
1

Great news. Thank you.

photo
1

I have just installed V58 and my PhpMyAdmin version is 4.0.10.14. Am I missing something here ?

photo
1

Hey all! First, I have to apologize. The upgrade was not completed in v58, and I incorrectly relayed information here. The Director of Product Development is working on finding a space for this project to get it in to v60, but it's not yet clear where it will land.

There were two parts to the project (package and ship PHPMyAdmin as an RPM, and upgrade the version of PHPMyAdmin that we ship), and while part one (the RPM) was completed, the upgrade was not.

As soon as I have more information, I will let everyone know.

photo
1

So, are we going to see the update in 62 ?

photo
1

Any news on an update to phpMyAdmin? i.e as an RPM?

photo
1

We delivered it as an RPM in 58, just didn't get the version upgrade complete.

photo

Just talked to the DD and the PO for the team working on this. We're doing a little more research, but we're definitely aimed at upgrading to 4.6 version 62.

In order to make this possible we deprecated support for MySQL ≤ 5.1 in version 60, and we are working on adding an upgrade blocker that drops support for older versions of MySQL to version 62. That sets us up to be able to accomplish this cleanly in 62, but we're up against an abbreviated development cycle (especially considering holidays). As things get set and I get a more clear timeline, I'll definitely update here. Feel free to email me directly if you don't hear from me!

photo
1

That sounds great :) What version was released as an RPM as I cannot seemto find it.

photo
1

The RPM was just a security update, not an actual version update. In version 60 we're currently shipping this one:

  1. [~]# rpm -qa | grep phpmy
  2. cpanel-phpmyadmin-4.0.10.14-1.cp1158.noarch

photo
1

Thank you :) I have installed version 60 and phpMyAdmin is indeed 4.0.10.14

photo
1

As I said, we were hoping to get this into version 62, but a few show-stopping bugs came up as we were attempting to merge. Unfortunately the updated RPM won't make the deadline. Given how close it is to complete, we should see this land easily in version 64, but I will definitely let you guys know for sure once it is in a public EDGE build.

Hi! Current version of phpmyadmin is 4.6.5.2 (2016-12-05). I readed the changelogs since 4.0.10.14 and it consists of 90% bugfixes + 10% new features:

https://github.com/phpmyadmin/history/tree/master/ChangeLogs

In the other hand, there is an interesting thread here:

https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/issues/12790

Last time cPanel updated phpmyadmin was on iteration 55.9999.89 on 2016-02-19:

https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CL/56+Change+Log

Noted that phpMyAdmin to 4.0.10.14 was released in 2013. All in all, users wishing to work with the last phpmyadmin version can always install it in an account subfolder or subdomain. Anyway, it would be great if you can ship a newer version, not the last one, I know, to avoid introducing any bugs.

Best regards

PHPMyAdmin 4.6 should be included in version 64, assuming nothing catastrophic is encountered.

photo

Another reason to get phpMyAdmin upgraded soon is to fix

this extremely aggravating inline editor bug that was taken care of by the

phpMyAdmin devs back in 2013, that's more than 3 years ago:

https://sourceforge.net/p/phpmyadmin/bugs/4187/

photo

More CVEs for the version of phpMyAdmin included with cPanel released last week. This needs to be fixed immediately.

photo

Why there is NO phpmyadmin update !!!??? Even on the latest WHM 62.0.1 !!! I don't want any other features !!! All I want is to get latest phpmyadmin version that has (design page) graphic design tables !!!

photo
3

The update is coming with version 64, and will be merged into that version soon! We're hoping to have a public version on the EDGE tier within 6-8 weeks, and are looking at releasing 64 to production tiers in Q2 of 2017.

photo
1

Thank you Benny, looking forward to seeing the update soon.

photo
2

I've got a local install of phpMyAdm for the latest version, but that is a pain as it requires manual maintenance.

Sad 62 did not have it. Come on 64 (and IT BETTER BE THERE!!!) :D

photo
1

The newer phpMyAdmin versions have such nicer features like SQL code autocompletion as you type, it recognizes table/columns names, lists all the MYSQL functions as you type, etc... oh and security issues fixed over the last few years :P

photo
4

Good news! In version 64 we have upgraded PHPMyAdmin to 4.6.4, and we now have a mechanism in place to keep it updated going forward.

  1. [root@v64 ~]# rpm -qa |grep phpmyadmin
  2. cpanel-phpmyadmin-4.6.4-3.cp1164.noarch
  3. [root@v64 ~]#

It's currently only in the EDGE tier, but if you have an EDGE server definitely take a look and let us know what you think!

photo

Hip Hip HOORAY!

photo
1

Great to hear, thanks Benny!

photo
1

Very thanks! That's awesome. Please paste links to the docs for such an update mechanism to obtain more info.

I'm interested in knowing if custom configurations are supported in some way.

photo
2

YES. FINALLY! Perfect.

This is now in a public build of version 64, 64.0.1, which is in the CURRENT tier. Update to version 64 now to take a look!
