Update to Munin to the most current version.

Even with CentOS 6.4, WHM/cPanel 11.39 I noticed that version 1.4.7 of Munin was installed.

As everyone knows, version 2.x performs MUCH better than version 1.x, and also has better features.

My question is - why is the current Munin version (2.x) not installed as a standard part of WHM/cPanel?

Why the old version? 2.0 is also simpler to install and setup.

I am also waiting for Munin 2.x in CPANEL/WHM

And Munin 2 supports munin-async, what should be very useful to us!

It would be great if you upgrade munin version in Cpanel for this.

and its been months since cpanel made some kind of promise thay they would integrate it into system, and still nothing :(

...or even an acknowledgement.

Munin is a great system, such as the Awstats, which was upgraded to the latest version.

I believe it is extremely important for many users. I hope you that update. Even because cPanel deserves a plugin for monitoramente system, including remote.

Thank you

munin 2.x was the feature i was expecting the most from 11.46. For some reason I was under the impression it was going to be realeased with it.

Another waving hand for updated Munin!

The only reason for not moving on this I can see is if the CPanel devs have waited so long to make the jump - that at this point they have decided it makes the most sense to wait a bit longer for the upcoming 2.1.x branch to go stable (which has a new JSON api and uses mysql for internal state monitoring).

I second this. Why should we install our own instance if cPanel is offering it as a cool embedded plugin? Or why are them installing such an old version of Munin?

Hope they can take this into consideration... soon :)

Any news on this really really really old issue? And if eventually you decide to add support for this, please try to make varnish graphs to display correctly :)

Please update Munin.

The cpanel Munin 1.4.7 has several problems:

1. Using other munin plugins like netstat_multi does not work because they requires "Munin::Plugin" function. This function is not available in version 1.4.7 but included in version 2.

2. With newer Perl, using the plugin /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/share/munin/plugins/apache_processes give errors. If I manually fix the code, the check-cpanel_rpms keep saying the munin RPM was found to be altered from their original install state. It's very annoy.

2015/05/16-19:25:06 [7571] Error output from apache_processes:

2015/05/16-19:25:06 [7571] Use of qw(...) as parentheses is deprecated at /etc/munin/plugins/apache_processes line 164.

I'm told by my host company that the problems I'm currently having with Munin are resolved in version 2.0. As such, I want to see the latest version of this monitoring tool included with cPanel. Thanks!

We just spent days trying to get munin 2.x to run outside cpanel. We had to give up and stay with the horribly ancient and not fully functional WHM version. It seems that cpanel has its own perl and that would need to be upgraded on the server for munin 2.0 to run.

Just another failed cpanel marketing ploy. Oh look we have this third part app! And that is it they drop the ball and never pick it up again.

Remember:

-Wordpress: (horrible disaster as part of WHM--Softaculous mastered it but cpanel failed!)

-All the entropy stuff like: search that are downright dangerous to use.

-Munin: A great tool to monitor things, forced to use the crippled and outdated whm version.

It seems like there are others, too...

munin 3 is coming out soon ... and we dont have access to munin 2 !!!!!!

In general not just for Munin the entire system should be upgradable at all times within reason. For that reson I plus one this.

This could go straight to version 3.

Yep, although Munin 3 is still on alpha. I bet you can start a Munin 3.x request to skip some steps while 2.x were never implemented by cPanel. Got my vote.

Please update Munin to Directly the Version 3 ... the Final Alpha version was released on 2015-09-08

by the time cpanel moves this to Pre-Release Munin 3 might get released and we might need to wait for another 2 to 3 years

Latest development release 2.99.3

Hey all! This is on the roadmap for v58. If everything goes according to plan internally, we'll see this in ~12-14 weeks. I'm not sure yet which specific version will be included in the update, but I know that the team will be making it easier to maintain and keep updated going forward as well. I'll update again as soon as I know more!
