Support Varnish

I'd like the ability to install and configure Varnish with cPanel. I've manually done this on a few web servers, and Varnish increased both the speed and capacity of the servers.

That would be really useful!

Please cPanel, do consider this.

Any chance we could get it? When?

Thanks,

I have read great reports about varnish. Please, add this feature.

Varnish or equivalent can improve performance dramatically. It seems like this would be a common configuration.

Yes, it would be nice to have Varnish right trought Cpanel, not by a plugin.

Yes this should be great.

In my oppinion, if varnish was supported, to make it usable on shared hosting, users would have to be able to :

1) Disable varnish on their account

2) Add their own URL exclusions

3) Choose varnish rules templates

I do not see the point of using varnish for static files.

I also have already played with unixy's varnish implementation and each custom built site needs rules added and implemented.

Varnish is only good for two things :

1) With a custom configuration per website

2) For webhosts that prefer having more sites hosted per server in exchange of customers having issues with cache.

If cPanel were to allow individual users to configure their own varnish, then this would indeed be a great feature, but otherwise we would not use it.

This would be great. Anyone who has a CMS, or any kind of dynamically generated pages, would benefit from being able to manage Varnish through cPanel. I've installed it without cPanel support anyway, but I'd like to see it soon so that it's easier to manage when I install the next iteration of servers.

I second monarobase idea. Hope it may be taken into consideration because CMS are now more common in every account than before.

Varnish is an essential app today, this reverse proxy can be combined with nginx to speeds up delivery with a factor of 500x to 1000x

Please consider to add it asap.

Varnishwould be a great feature. But to install Varnish, we would need a way for theuser to edit his site VCL file directly from inside his cPanel account.

So Isuggest that the default VCL for all site wouldn’t kept anything in cache(anyway, if a site doesn’t have much traffic, Varnish won’t help much) and havea per site VCL configuration editor where one user could control the cache settingfor Varnish.

Since a bad VCL configuration can cause great problem on a transactional site!

Do you have plan adding Varnish Cache? We can website a speed boost with Varnish.

Currently it's not on our backlog, but Varnish support is definitely something we've considered adding! If there are any updates I'll make sure we say so here.

Hi this would be great feature and its been so long, why its not been added yet to Cpanel. This should be high priority if it helps boosting the speed and other features of the domain. @benny@cpanel.net any updates in regards to if something is getting implemented or taken in consideration so far.

Xvarnish/Cachewall (https://cachewall.com/) have a really easy to use product that is screaming for native inclusion into cPanel and deserves a lot more attention from the cPanel/FOSS community.

Their signups seem to be closed right now but I've been using successfully it since 2017.

I'm not sure of the status of the project but if it's dormant it needs to be woken up, dusted off, and included as a native option in cPanel.

There is a similar product based on Nginx caching capabilities for both static and dynamic page that we are using on our cPanel servers called "WSA" (https://www.astralinternet.com/en/cpanel-website-accelerator/).

The third-party products we've used and tested don't have complete IPV6 support. The way we see it, we're moving to LiteSpeed to get caching and proper support. Now, if cPanel were to include Varnish with cPanel, we'd probably reverse course.

This is a priority. We have also moved to LiteSpeed.

We moved to LiteSpeed when we deployed new servers and haven't looked back. We have 1LS and 1Apache (LS used for our SEO client sites) with the Apache being used for sites with legacy Joomla, WP, and some other scripts.

The only downside to LS is if you want support from LS, it's VERY expensive. The upside is - thankfully - cPanel supports LS mitigating a lot of learning time!

As for the linked NGINX above, that looks interesting but would heavily question their IPV6 support. You can run into lots of challenges with NGINX and other caching systems if they aren't properly configured for you Centos/RH/CL installs.

Our primary push for a caching solution has been towards NGINX. While this isn't currently on our backlog, it may get a higher priority if anything changes in the NGINX ecosystem.
