Support long/multi-line DNS record values in DNS zone editors

bellwood shared this idea 10 years ago
Completed

The current zone editor does not support multi-line values which is required for setting DKIM keys longer than 255 characters.

While bind natively supports this, the editor won't let you enter a 1024 or 2048 bit key without throwing a warning.

A zone file that has been manually edited to include a multi-line record entry is not loadable in the editor and throws a "unrecognized type" error on the first wrapped/encapsulated line.

This was released as part of 11.50, so I'm going to go ahead and mark this as Complete. If you have any questions, let me know!

I am encouraging everyone to please vote. This is basic functionality that needs to be updated so we can move forward with proper DNS records.

"In Progress" excellent! Any formal update from cPanel on this, e.g possibly a planned 11.50 release?

This appears to be resolved as of 11.49.9999.45 which is now in edge.

>> Implemented case 69073: Make DKIM use 2048-bit RSA keys.

Different case number however the ability to use 2048 bit keys would mean the editor is now capable of handling larger values / split-line values beyond 255 characters.

Thanks cPanel!

Just a confirmation here that the editor is NOT YET capable of handling split line records hence why this is still in pre-release.

Soon, very soon =)
