Statistics Software: GoAccess as Option

As a system administrator and end-user of cPanel, I'd like to have GoAccess as a statistics software option, as it is a modern open-source, fast, and valuable resource for analyzing logs.

The current options for statistics software are old, ugly and in most case inappropriate for most users. It would be nice to see GoAccess as another software option.

Why GoAccess?

GoAccess is an open source real-time web log analyzer and interactive viewer that runs in a terminal in *nix systems or through your browser.

It provides fast and valuable HTTP statistics for system administrators that require a visual server report on the fly.

  • Modern interface;
  • Standalone cli tool to generate traffic reports (can be scripted in the same way cPanel scripts the current options)
  • Fast;
  • Open-source and free;

The best feature is: you point the program at a apache log and it generated an HTML report including the data, javascript, stylesheets and everything else. There are no external dependencies. The report files can be easily archived at the user home dir and displayed by just opening ONE file. The user can also download the files and open them on their computer without any external dependencies.

The thing I like about goaccess is the live stats and geo location. It will not take long for you to analyze what is going on in your server. If cpanel can integrate this or introduce similar plugin then it would be nice.

This would be amazing, Especially if it can cover server wide rather than just individual sites.

This or even netdata, Matomo will be a more useful tools.

There is no lack of great looking analytical tools that can be integrated that users will find useful and relevant than what is presently available.

The current cPanel stat tools are really, really outdated and often incomprehensible to normal users.

I will even argue that whole cPanel UI needs a fresh modern look and feel.

Its a little funny - the 'modern' Paper Lantern UI (which still has yet to be fully realized in WHM by the way) is now sufficiently aged that it itself now is indeed arguably due for a visual and UX refresh.

I really think cPanel should have more developers specifically dedicated to UI/UX cleanup and long-term interface project planning. I get the feeling they don't, and it's catch as catch can on these topics.

I agree netdata would be useful too
