Needs Feedback
Hi,
I have not found any thread where someone configuring Sphinx with Cpanel.
For your information:
Few link they tried explaining:
http://krystal.co.uk/blog/2013/02/running-sphinx-on-cpanel/
http://sphinxsearch.com/docs/current.html#quick-tour
Just want to confirm if Cpanel made any utility/Add-on/Thirdparty for it?
Because i was try to make a complete post for it.
Help or Guide will be appreciated.
At face value, I see it as unlikely that Sphinx would be integrated into cPanel & WHM. I have not historically seen a large demand for something like Sphinx (SQL full text search engine) within the general hosting industry and those whom utilize cPanel & WHM.
However, that's one of the purposes of our features site to allow those to demonstrate the demand and need for given features. If this feature receives significant votes, it will increase the likelihood in which it will be considered.
Something that would help this feature request in general as well as potentially help it receive more votes would be to demonstrate use cases for Sphinx for the average cPanel & WHM server owner. Additionally, if there are popular website scripts that end-users frequently use which can leverage Sphinx, explaining and showing that will help too.
My initial concern is that Sphinx appears to be a very specialized/limited/targeted solution that would not be utilized by many. Providing answers to the above questions and achieving significant votes would definitely help to improve Sphinx's consideration.

I used sphinx for over a year and it did reduce the load on the mysql, it indexed pretty fast and there was a less load on the server.
I have moved hosting companies and lost my sphinx due to the move, but it does work and I would really like to see it incorporated into WHM / Cpanel, since a lot of the forum software is offering Sphinx as a search engine and if it is on the server you can switch to it sphinx with a press of a button.
