Remove ICQ/AIM And Use Firechat!
Open Discussion
As a server administrator I would like cPanel to add Firechat support to its notification system allowing me to take advantage of the security and ease of use that Firechat provides over the existing chat options.

I'm all for supporting new protocols, but why link your new protocol to the removal of popular ones? ICQ does have security and AIM moved to XMPP which has security also, AFAIK.

Skype, ICQ, AIM all rely on their XMPP servers being up. Firechat does not. It is an end to end encrypted connection.

It looks like Firechat is built on top of MeshKit, a specialized library (or framework) designed specifically for iOS and Android. There is no information, or indication, on their site that MeshKit works on other platforms. They don't even provide an API or developer information.
At this time Firechat does not seem a good candidate for integration.

It would be nice to be able to choose to choose a custom script in the event someone wishes to use a different service or would like more control on server notifications. However I personally like Slack, Hipchat is also popular and Microsoft Flow would be also nice.

Yes something needs to be added to allow proper real time notifications to smart devices. I have been trying to set up ICQ on our server but it will not send messages from one account to another, it will only send to the "server" account meaning that I cannot be notified properly.
What about a cPanel smart device app? ;)

The ability to have a custom script option would be amazing. We have written our own mobile application that we use for other notifications system using Google Cloud Messaging, so that we can push Notifications to staff currently on the clock. The ability to add cPanel notifications to this would be game changing.

While this specific improvement doesn't answer the feature request, I did want to mention that in version 64 we added the ability to create a notification plugin, and documented that here:
https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CKB/How+to+Create+a+Notification+Plugin+for+WHM
If you have questions about that document, or creating a plugin in general, you can open a ticket with our support team or email me.
