We have accounts that don't require daily backups, while others certainly do.

For those that don't require daily backup, we do wish weekly backups though.

At this time, we can only enable or disable the backups for an account alltogether.

We'd like to be able to set up certain accounts to be backed up only weekly, while the others still have daily backups. this way, we can backup the less important accounts during the weekends, rather than daily.

backing up several large sites can really pound the server. The ability to backup one set of accounts on certain days, then other accounts on other days. You could also select some accounts to backup every time.

Select different users to backup in different days

As a Web-Hosting Provider, I would like the ability to divide backups into user groups that can be assigned specific dates/times for scheduled backups in order to help effectively manage server maintenance times and resources.

I´m doing daily, weekly and monthly backups using the backup feature in WHM

The problem is that some servers with many sites (and heavy "space used" sites) take AGES to finish the backups. And some backups initiated at 2:00 AM, continues for more of 10 hours during that day, affecting the server for the use of resources.

The current backup feature allows selecting USERS to make the backups. Then.. if you have for example 200 users, you can select to make the backups for 100 users. this part works perfectly.

The idea is to create different backups configurations :

BACKUP 1

selecting 30 accounts and run the Monday

BACKUP 2

selecting another different 30 accounts and run it on Tuesday

BACKUP 3

select another 30 and run on Wednesday.

etc. etc.

and finally, make a WEEKLY backup on Saturday for ALL accounts

What do you think? can it be done in any way?

The resellers can set backups from WHM and select only their "own" accounts?

Configure different backup schedules for multiple backup destinations

As a System Administrator, I would like the ability to have different backup schedules for multiple backup destinations, so that I can increase or decrease the frequency that a remote destination receives backups (potentially saving money if one backup destination costs more then the other, such as AWS S3).

What if we did an incremental back up of the accounts? Would that alleviate the issue?

I think that independent backup plans would really take cPanel backups to the next level. You could specify different configurations for each plan (account package) or account. That could imply replicating the current backup config into an array of configs, each one with a name and assignable to a package or account.

I'm quite sure that something like that could solve nearly everyone's needs for backup.
