Open cPanel plugin in new tab

Alfizzle shared this idea 9 years ago
Completed

With the new PaperLantern theme there is no way to create a plugin that opens in a new tab. This means if I create an icon in cPanel and set the uri to google.com for example it will open google.com in the same window, navigating the user away from the cPanel.

There should be a way to create a plugin so when clicked the uri is opened in a new tab in the users browser.

This was added in 11.50, as Adam mentioned. Marking as complete. You can find more information about this functionality here:

An update to install.json and install_plugin is on the way to do exactly this.

great! I assume it will also have the option to display to the Feature Manager in WHM as the current method does not...

@alfez - look for Case 146397 for the addition of a Feature Manager entry for plugins in our release notes. It's already been accepted into 11.50 but our release team may/may-not choose to backport it to 11.48

Perfect! Thanks for the quick responses! lastly, do you have any ETA on 11.50? Are we looking at a few months still or possibly much sooner? Thanks

Our current plan for a 'feature freeze' for 11.50 is mid-april. I'm afraid I don't have much more information than that. Definitely be looking for EDGE builds (under the version number 11.49) if you'd like to play with 11.50 sooner than that.

I already do this with a standard web browser (opening plugin items in new tabs). ;) Maybe I missed something here?

The ability for plugin developers to specify that pages behind the icon in the sea of icons should open in a new window (or any other valid [a target=""] value) is merging into 11.50 as we speak.
