kill running backup process from whm

Needs Feedback

We'd like to be able to kill the entire backup process running, so that it completes the current account being backed up, and then just stops for the rest...

David, could you give an example of the situation you're running into that would benefit from this feature request? What is causing you to need to stop a backup manually?

Thank you.

When the server is really slow & websites are not even loading

Basically, we have servers with LARGE accounts, and the backups just take too long to complete (I'll be submitting another request as well which may deal with it), but it would be nice if we could see "where in the backup process" we are, and just instruct whm to complete the current account, but then stop.

This is just because when the backups are running at peak hours, it simply slows down the servers too much.

I'll submit two other feature requests relating to this issue as well.

Hi Scott,

Please have a look at http://features.cpanel.net/responses/better-backup-management - that should give you a clear idea on what we'd love to see implemented backup-wise :-)

Thank you.

IMO the current backup configuration should allow you to pause, resume, start or kill a backup. I should not have to proceed to CLI to initiate backup after configuration if desired. I would also like to see the ability to backup specific accounts on/at different days/times. Useful when larger accounts needing to be backed up will adversely affect server performance. Basically the desired features/improvement would allow backups to be staggered. Especially useful when backing up domains 10GB or larger. Eg: I can schedule domains smaller than xGB to run Fri night. While domains larger than xGB are scheduled to run Sat night etc.

I seond that. Although, a simple UI with a Pause|Stop / Continue would suffice for the vast majority of scenarios. Obviously, the system should abort the backup if paused for more than XX hours.

Weekly backup takes forerver...and is not finished on bussness hours (9-17:00) causes slow down

Better solution is to freeze backup if not finished after X hours
