eMail Merging / Migration Integrity
Hi,
When migrating cPanel from one server to another there is a very real possibility that emails can be 'lost' during the transfer. (ie, emails that are sent after the backup of the old account, but before the new server is up, or the DNS settings have propogated).
During this time, the old server can continue to collect and store email messages that will never end up on the new server (because the backup has been done).
It would be fantastic if there was an option in cPanel so cPanel or WHM users (ie, non root access users) could import email from another server (ie, the old server) at a cPanel account level for all identical / matching email accounts.
The idea would be that after the migration has occurred, the cPanel or WHM user could initiate a 'collect' just prior to terminating the old account, or alternatively after they've allowed enough time for DNS propagation to occur. This would import all emails on the old cPanel account to all available mailboxes and ensure that no emails are missed during the backup and restore period and the integrity of the mail service remains.

Noting that this is a different request than those that are requesting partial restores to the effect of "mail only" restores. This is a request for a live-transfer of mail from server-to-server that is accessible by a non-root user.
The biggest question/concern I have regarding this is how you envision the logic of this transfer happening.
Any mail deleted or moved away to other folders on the destination mailbox would be restored back in place and effectively duplicate or "undeleted" as far as the end-user is concerned. It is a very real possibility for this to cause negative/undesired effects and clutter the mailbox with mass-transferring mail without consideration.
There isn't any sort of method to mitigate this. Are you okay with the understanding this would be likely behavior for end-users who utilize this feature?
