Email encryption at rest

As a web-hosting provider, I would like to see a feature where email is encrypted in storage as well as in transit, to help me in my goals related to GDPR compliance.
I like this idea 
cPanel, WebHost Manager and WHM are registered trademarks of cPanel, L.L.C. for providing its computer software that facilitates the management and configuration of Internet web servers.
The idea here is that the email store should be automatically encrypted without end-user setup or intervention. They keys should be generated and installed at setup time. There should be no way for the anyone to read the mail file without going through an admin console.

This would indeed be a very good thing to have for GDPR compliance.

A nice feature, but might be hard to implement though. Also, the constant encryption/decryption might increase server load, causing unnecessary overheads.
I also believe if you use GPG in horde / on your mail client this issue of encryption would be solved.
