DCV (AutoSSL, Market, etc) to Act Differently based on Apache Version
As a server owner and webhosting provider, I would like cPanel to expand AutoSSL's DCV functionality to only edit .htaccess files on Apache 2.2 servers, and opt for global mod_rewrite addition on Apache 2.4 servers, to limit the potential for AutoSSL to cause problems with .htaccess file edits.
From cPanel:
In testing the mod_rewrite change adversely impacted webserver performance by a small margin.
We have avoided implementing a global DCV url capture (sometimes referred to as include files) as it would lock out third parties from developing plugins and restrict customer's ability to get SSL certificates who were doing so outside of of cPanel.
If this were to be implemented (likely as a Tweak Setting) it would affect all of the DCV checks that use cPanel APIs including AutoSSL, Market, HostnameCerts, and third party plugins.
This is now in a public build of version 64, 64.0.1, which is in the CURRENT tier. Update to version 64 now to take a look!

This could solve the problem at least for Apache 2.4.

This is being worked in in case CPANEL-11466 for v63/v64.
Sample Tweak Setting (This is an early version that has not been through locale review)
