Amazon Route 53 as a DNS cluster

Amazon Route 53 seems to be a simple and cost effective DNS service. Would be great to see an option to use it as a DNS cluster. At the time of this writing I only see options for DNSONLY, Vps.net and softlayer.

For me, as long as cPanel could update the Route 53 data when clients add subdomains, etc., I expect I would turn off bind.

I would be interested in this option as well. Right now I feel like the DNSONLY version of cPanel just isn't getting enough attention from your developers and doesn't feel very stable at all, especially considering that the only real service running on it is just BIND.

cPanel just needs to make DNS changes hooks. That would make it much easier to integrate cPanel with any DNS service.

Woud you use this for all domains on a cPanel server ?
Amazon Route 53 currently costs 1,2 USD / year per zone. If a customer has 10 domain aliases on his account that would be 12 USD per year.
Using Route53 could be on a per package basis for some webhosts…
Also DNS change webhooks sound like the way to do this, so you could have both DNS cluster and Route53 and only enable it for customers who have a hosting package that allows it.

The truth is that the nature of web hosting, either for personal use or for ecommerce is changing fast.
While we trust and believe that cPanel is at the forefront of innovation, it will be great if it can catch up with these kind of changes which has been there for a while.

And no matter how you can automate, secure and deploy these, you will still have to manage them as you would any other server which include logging, analyzing and everything else.

Hi. I'm super happy with AWS RDS coming to be available in v80.
Keeping on the same track, is there any chance this can be considered?
Really, WHM combined with AWS is great! Being able to use Route 53 would be fantastic.
Integrations with Amazon AWS greatly improve cPanel's value.

Route 53 will be an amazing addition to WHM to be added as a cluster option.
It will mean a local bind/powerdns for backup and using the Route 53 for the actual routing.
Hopefully they will have a closer look on this topic
