Allow the Advanced Zone Editor to create/edit SRV records

We have several reseller clients who have complained that they need to contact us to create or edit SRV records. Please adjust the advanced zone editor to show/create/edit all dns records so that clients can manage their own DNS records completely.
Right now, it only allows A, CNAME, and TXT records.
I like this idea

We just finished the first iteration on this feature, adding both AAAA and SRV record support to the advanced zone editor.

As of this moment it is doable by the Root Account as far as I've read. I would be very happy to have this feature added since a lot of other programs / websites already provide this.

This is needed. Office 365 service requires SRV records so clients should be able to add them.

Would love to see this feature added quickly. Like many others I have a need to add SRV for clients (office 365).

What possible reason could there be to not implement this ? We could do this in almost every other panel for the last 5 years. It's not a BIND issue...
I just hit this issue for the 1st time, and am a little shocked. There are threads for 2008 asking for the same functionality...but nothing has ever been done.
We have hosted lync and exchange services and I can't use the customers existing cpanel account to host those DNS records ?
Can we pay to have this implemented ?

One of the things that makes this so important to have in cPanel is the fact the some clients / hosts use different types of domain registration services that, in some cases, force the customer (or host) to resort to making unusual nameserver settings on domain registrations in order to achieve SRV - many of which look unprofessional and don't match our own name servers for those of us who do have clients use our own DNS.
I'm really hoping and wishing that cPanel will consider SRV record capability to be implemented in cPanel soon so that we can begin to honor customer requests more seamlessly for those clients who need it.
If someone at cPanel is reading this right now, thank you for your consideration about this.

I'm building an Office 365 tool which automatically updates DNS records on cPanel hosting accounts for our clients. I can make it work with WHM accounts, but this limitation prevents it from working with cPanel accounts. It would be fantastic if this limitation was lifted and the zoneedit module updated to allow me to complete the tool.

I cannot setup Customers with office 365 LYNC until this is added unless I move them to a different DNS server. Come on CPanel Dev. I would be happy to help if I had a clue how.

I set up lync for office 365 for a customer today, would be nice if there were SRV records in the advanced editor.
The only missing option was the protocol in WHM's DNS editor, not sure if this is needed or not, but users should defenetly be allowed to create SRV records.

This NEEDS to include MX records as well so clients don't get confused by and accidentally change the "Email Routing" options

By the way, if anyone wants a simply way to add the Office 365 DNS Records to cPanel & WHM hosting accounts I've built a handy tool which automates the process. Obviously SRV records won't work on cPanel accounts unless you have WHM access but that's not for much longer hopefully!

I just had my first customer request this. Instead of allowing their IT staff to do it, I have to spend precious support time adding the SRV record for them. I imagine the number of requests will grow as our company does.

Because I need this faster than these guys are going to get around to it, it looks like I'm going to have to dump my CPanel-using host and stand everything up again on Amazon Web Services using their S3 control panel, which DOES allow us to create SVR records by the way.

It's really necessary now especially for those companies who are offering Office 365 as a primary cloud service.
I'm facing an issue now with one of clients as they are installing MS Lync on-promise and their service provider is contacting me to add the record from them!!
It's much easier to keep this type pf records in their hands.

If you manually edited the bind files previously make sure you backup all your .db files as cpanel re-writes zones that don't have a proper header line.

I had missed that the "Official Answer" above stated that this is a Paper Lantern only enhancement, so if you're looking in the advanced DNS editor in some other theme and don't see SRV records, that would be why.

Why was this release pushed out for Paper Lantern only? That isn't even the default theme; x3 is. When will you push out these changes for all themes?
