Allow users to disable or enable SSH

As a web-hosting provider, I think it would be great if cPanel users could enable or disable SSH on their account.

If their package includes SSH access, they should have an option in the cPanel interface to enable it or disable it.

Some users would not want SSH to be enabled while others do. Instead of having to create multiple packages, web hosts could instead offer SSH in all packages and let the cPanel user decide whether or not they want SSH enabled.

I can definitely see the utility of this. It would require a decent rework of the internals on how we manage that though. How often do you find something like this is requested from your users?

Quite often, actually.

We're not enabling SSH by default. We probably could but it feels more secure that the SSH feature is disabled by default.

Customers will need to contact us to have SSH enabled and while it's not exactly time consuming to enable SSH for a single account, we'd rather spend the time on something else.

Some of our customers are strict about security and they only want SSH enabled whenever they need to use SSH or SFTP. Once they're done with their work, SSH needs to be disabled again. If the client needs SSH enabled during the night, there's a high probability that we won't see the ticket before the morning.

I see that a lot of control panels built "in house" allows the customer to enable/disable SSH.

Thanks for the additional information. I'm going to mark this "Not planned" for now until we can find a place to prioritize this on our roadmap.
