We have a case in the backlog to add support for this, but no timeline yet. ZC-11561 "AVIF Support for PHP"

Thanks for reaching out! While this isn't currently on our roadmap, I'll open it up for discussion to see if it garners more votes.
Thanks!

Is there any status update on this? AVIF has been widely supported in browsers for some time now (only Microsoft Edge left, but that's because of licensing issues which requires legal resolution - patent trolls at work). Jake Archibald, developer advocate at Google wrote "What I'm saying is, the time to care about AVIF is now" back in 2020.

@Kelli, your original answer was much more honest and transparent. It sounds like this is a decision not to support a feature based upon you all not wanting to commit resources to adding support for AVIF and libgd. Is that correct?
Note that this is already a feature in one of your primary competitors that sys admins are flocking to. We really want to stick with cPanel, but it's concerning that we don't see these new features being rolled out in our cPanel/WHM environments.
