Option to disable "Check mail" via cPanel

Hi :-)

We believe that it is a GDPR violation that any employee with the cPanel login can click on "Check mail" and can read from any email account. Combined with a missing option to create (restricted) user logins for a cPanel.

Can we in a future update have an option to disable "Check mail" via cPanel please?

There are old requests like this already in feature request forum, but they are before GDPR was launched here in EU.

Thank you :-)

Hello,

The Check Mail functionality in the Email Accounts interface is governed by the Webmail feature in the feature list. When the Webmail feature is disabled, the Check Mail action isn't available. Users can still navigate to webmail.example.com or example.com:2096 to login directly to webmail, with the correct user name and password.

So, you are talking about disabling the whole email section in the cPanel? Please see my screenshot.

If we disable this, clients are not able to manage their e-mail addresses.

We just need the "Check email" button to be disabled.

No. The Webmail feature on the feature list only governs the Check Mail action. All the other tools in your screenshot will still be available.

Hi Kenneth

We had to re-enable the Webmail feature under WHM > Feature Manager > default > Edit > Webmail because our clients were reporting errors like the uploaded one (please see screenshot).

So, what to do? We like having the "Check Mail" not shown in the cPanel (due to GDPR here in EU) and at the same time having clients accessing their mail via their webmail address without problems.

How can this be done?

Thank you. I confirmed the described behavior and re-opened the request.
