Change DNS record type in WHM -> DNS Zone Manager

As a web hosting provider, I would like to be able to change an existing record to another type, ie CNAME to A record, in order to avoid duplicating work.

Currently, it's impossible to change the existing record to another type, for instance, if you wish to change mail.domain.com CNAME record to an A record, the UI has record type disabled and you are unable to change the existing record to another type. Not sure if this is a bug or a feature but it was possible with the old Edit a DNS zone tool.

This is now possible as of version 96 of cPanel & WHM.
