Web Command-Line Shell

As a server administrator, I would like access to a command-line interface via cPanel and/or WHM’s web interface.

This will allow me to block SSH for external requests while still allowing customers to use the command line when they need (e.g., to update Drupal).

It’s also useful for cases (e.g., kiosks) where I might only have access to a web browser and not to a terminal application.

There used to be a Java-based applet in cPanel that did this; this feature request is to restore that functionality—presumably using HTML5 WebSocket and plain JavaScript rather than Java.

Hey folks! This feature was added to cPanel & WHM in Version 72, which is available in the CURRENT tier now! Take a look at the release notes, and see all of the highlights for this version on the 72 Release Site.

I think some sort of terminal client available from within WHM is becoming more and more relevant.

Built in interfaces like the Graphical Firewall Configuration Tool for firewalld could be run with no further coding or development overhead from cPanel, and a whole raft of additional possibilities open up for CL use.
