Improve Certificate Status Indication in cPanel

As a cPanel user, I would like for the certificate status indicator for the primary domain that appears in the right sidebar of cPanel to show the status of the certificate according to how it is seen by the world at large rather than the status of the certificate on the local server.

I would like for the status indicator to use the context of the world at large rather than the local server because the status of the certificate on the local server is not relevant if the domain is pointed to a different server, and an error message stating that the certificate is invalid is only a source of unnecessary stress in the case where the domain is pointed elsewhere.

As a WHM user / Hosting provider, I would like for the status indicator to use the context of the world at large instead of the local server because my customers will open tickets with me and use my company's resources due to an irrelevant error message.

Consider this situation:

- The primary domain is pointed to a remote host

- I am still using cPanel for the domain

This situation can occur for a number of reasons, one being that I host the mail.domain.tld subdomain on cPanel but domain.tld (Primary Domain) on an external host.

Another situation is where I have Cloudflare in front of cPanel and I am using their SSL certificates rather than certificates on the local server.

cPanel introduced a new certificate status indicator that appears in the right sidebar for the primary domain with the following:

This status indicator operates only within the context of the status of the certificate on the local server. The status indicator has no concept of the status of a certificate if the domain is pointed to a different server.
