Fingerprinting Files

A tool that can fingerprint files in a directory(ies) would be enormously helpful, after a successful hack attempt, to find altered or missing files with a mouse click hence a restore would be a breeze.

The particular problem is that some hacks are not apparent hence you continue to backup tampered files without knowing it.

Wordpress got a plugin to do this job and sending an alert when files have been altered. If we would have such a (manual) tool in cPanel, especially shared hosting, it would be enormously helpful.

I am not talking about a complete monitor system - just a fingerprint generator for files
