Warning is misleading - Inaccurate warning during transfer of domains using outside name server
Hello,
I have a suggestion...
When transferring accounts between servers and using the transfer tool... we get the following message because we use external DNS servers with DNS Only... we do NOT use Bind on the hosting servers in order to keep that load off of them
RESTORE: Account “*****”: Warnings
This system is not authoritative for the zone “****.com”.
Contact “****.com”’s registrar and set that domain’s nameservers to “ns7.****.com”, “ns77.****.com”, and “ns777.****.com”. (For registrar information, visit https://client.rdap.org/?object=vicinn.com&type=domain.)
You must also make “ns7.****.com”, “ns77.****.com”, and “ns777.****.com” resolve to this server.
Yes, I understand that you have addressed this as an "information only" type notice with workarounds (the workaround being to ignore the warning), however it is NOT worded accurately.
The message is misleading, and when a user constantly sees these warnings, they eventually begin to ignore legitimate error messages, as they tend to no longer look at them. It's also inaccurate in that it instructs the user to make all three name servers resolve at the hosting server.... which of course we should not do since they are hosted separately and use DNS Only.... or might be at another provider.
Might I suggest something more accurate and helpful... like the following:
This system is not authoritative for the zone “****.com”.
Please contact “****.com”’s nameserver provider and have them update any zone record containing the previous server's IP address to the new server's IP address.
